Organically cultivated, we harvest a healthy and 100% natural lemon, respecting the environment without forcing the soil fertility.
Organically cultivated, we harvest a healthy and 100% natural lemon, respecting the environment without forcing the soil fertility.
At Tana, the land is our way of living since our early beginnings, and we know how important it is to respect it. In the 1960s, when the fruit durability was prioritised and chemicals were used, we were already doing otherwise starting with the non post-harvest treatment line for the sake of health.
Next to privileged natural areas and completely isolated from other crops, the location of our estates is ideal for the organic cultivation. And, although being in lemon orchards, it is surprising how it feels like being in the heart of nature.
We go beyond the minimum legal requirements for organic production. In our estate we have respected local flora and fauna for years. We avoid indiscriminate exploitation, finding the balance between sustainability and production. That is, agriculture as means of cooperation with nature, preserving the soil fertility and looking for the environmental benefits.
Mixing conventional and organic fruit is a possibility that does not exist at Tana. Our BIO fruit is harvested in perfectly differentiated boxes. Process and packaging lines are physically separated, and fruit is storaged in cold chambers exclusively designed for this product.
In Tana, we control that there is no possibility of mixing conventional fruit with organic fruit. The BIO production is collected in different boxes, unlike conventional boxes. During packaging there is a physical separation of the processing lines, since they are found in separate warehouses. The BIO goods are received in an exclusive chamber for this production, then packaged in a completely different warehouse to the conventional product. Finally, until the dispatch moment, the stock stays in chambers which are also separated from the conventional product.
We have estates in Málaga and Murcia in full organic production. The organic product is handled in a completely independent warehouse, equipped with the latest machinery and an electronic gauge, thus minimizing fruit damage and ensuring the final quality.
The so hated "weed" is not that bad for us: it is possible to coexist with its development, since, once reaped, it helps to maintain the vegetation cover and even makes some pests stay on the grass and not to attack the cultivation. Conventional agriculture has looked down on the habitat where pests seek shelter and has fought against them using chemical mass fumigations that leave no bees for pollination. But we think there is no need for that.
The environmental awareness of the entire Department of Agriculture of Tana goes beyond what is strictly necessary for the organic certification. We encourage the development of indigenous plants and increase it with new plantations that facilitate the transit of the fauna or the creation of colonies within the same estates.
We are specialized in juices, pulps, and essential oils production, as well as peels processing, getting a wide variety of products for the food industry.
